Sunday is the one day the public can swim without a room: 12pm to 9pm for $20, the lowest day-pass price we list, bought at the hotel.

The pool

The Hoxton is at 200 N Green St in the West Loop, with its pool on the roof. The hotel doesn't publish a floor. It has sun loungers, towels and city skyline views, and the catch is that public swim runs on Sundays only.

Our take

The Hoxton undercuts the DoubleTree, where a day pass starts at $30, but the DoubleTree sells passes online and the Hoxton doesn't. Here you pay in person, and entry depends on capacity. Soho House is on the same street and is the harder door, since it doesn't publish a day pass.

The downside is the Sunday limit. From Monday through Saturday, only Hox guests and Working From members swim, 8am to 6pm. Loungers are first come, first served, so a busy Sunday can mean no lounger.

Getting in

Hox guests and Working From members can swim Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm. Check in with the pool host when you arrive.

On Sunday the pool opens to non-guests from noon until 9pm. A day pass costs $20 and you buy it at the hotel itself. Entry depends on capacity, and the hotel doesn't publish age rules.

Tips

  • Arrive early on a Sunday: passes are capacity-based and loungers have no reservations.
  • Last lap on Sundays is 8.30pm. Cabra serves bites until 10pm, and non-guests are welcome there after 4pm.
  • The Hox Shop by reception sells SPF if you forget yours.

Before you go. The pool runs early May through October and shuts for the winter. Check it is open before you plan a Sunday around it.
