Summer is the season for a rooftop swim here: June to August are Nashville's best three months, and January highs drop to 9.5°C. Of the 17 hotels on our list with a pool on the roof, 14 let non-guests buy a day pass. Two take guests only, and one doesn't publish who can swim. Six of the pools are heated.

Our first pick is W Nashville in The Gulch: heated, 21 and over, with day passes from $80 and a cabana that seats up to eight. For a cheaper swim, Westin Nashville sells $30 day passes for a heated pool on the 27th floor, and Courtyard Nashville Green Hills has the lowest pass on our list at $25.

When to swim on a Nashville rooftop

Book June to August for the warmest swimming. Those are Nashville's best three months, and CMA Fest fills downtown from Thursday, June 10 through Sunday, June 13, 2027, so reserve hotels and day passes early for that week. The 2027 schedule also lists Deep Tropics Festival in August (no dates given) and the opening of the new Nissan Stadium.

Winter is cooler: average highs are 16.3°C in November, 11.2°C in December and 9.5°C in January. Six pools on our list are heated: W Nashville, Margaritaville Hotel Nashville, Omni Nashville, Grand Hyatt Nashville, Westin Nashville and The Joseph. Margaritaville says registered guests can swim year-round. The Nash is open-air in season and doesn't state its opening dates, so confirm before a cold-weather trip.

Average daily highs: November 61°F (16°C), December 52°F (11°C), January 49°F (10°C). The warmest stretch for swimming is Jun–Aug.

Where to stay: Nashville's rooftop pools by area

SoBro (South of Broadway)

SoBro sits in the center of Nashville but away from the bar-lined stretch of Broadway. The Country Music Hall of Fame is here, with the Johnny Cash Museum and the Ryman Auditorium close by. Affordable rooms are scarce, so you pay a premium. Margaritaville, Omni, JW Marriott, Westin, The Joseph and AC Hotel Downtown are here.

The Gulch

Hotels, rooftop bars, murals and restaurants are packed into The Gulch, which you can walk around easily. It's often recommended for first-timers, and Lower Broadway is about a five-minute drive. W Nashville and Thompson Nashville are here.

Midtown

Midtown has the Frist Art Museum and Centennial Park, and it's considered quiet and walkable, which suits families. It's near Vanderbilt and a strong bar scene, and popular with bachelorette groups. Virgin Hotels Nashville and Conrad Nashville are here.

Downtown (Lower Broadway)

Downtown runs up to the river and holds the country and western bars, which makes it the best base for nightlife. Grand Hyatt Nashville is on our list here.

Cheaper ways to swim in Nashville

Three public pools cost far less than a hotel day pass. Hartman Indoor Pool is free, and Centennial Sportsplex's 50m pool is reported at $10 a visit (check current pricing). The Downtown YMCA lets non-members swim during guest hours, but no price is stated.

  • Hartman Indoor Pool: Free. Address is 2801 Tucker Rd, Nashville, TN 37218. The listing describes free admission and operating hours through the week.
  • Downtown YMCA indoor and outdoor pools. Has guest hours, so non-members can use the pools on weekdays and weekends. No admission price is stated in the source.
  • Centennial Sportsplex 50m competition pool: $10. A visitor's blog reports a $10 entry fee and lap swim sessions most days. The source does not say the fee is for adults, and a Reddit snippet mentions $8 a visit, so check current pricing.

Hotels you might expect here, and why they're not

Two hotels people expect on a Nashville rooftop pool list don't have one.

  • 1 Hotel Nashville. The sources describe Harriet's Rooftop as a rooftop bar with skyline views and DJs, but none mention a swimming pool on the roof, a top-floor terrace, or anywhere else at the hotel.
  • Noelle. The hotel's own FAQ says it has no pool or spa. A third-party ranking page claims a 4th-floor rooftop pool, but the hotel's own pages win. Noelle has a rooftop bar (Rare Bird) but no pool.
