Faro's swim season runs June to August, the months a roof pool pays off. Four hotels on our list have a pool on the roof, spread across Faro, Olhão and Tavira. None of them publishes whether non-guests can swim, so we can't point you to a day-pass option here.

Our first pick is 3HB Faro: its rooftop infinity pool looks over the Ria Formosa, and a heated indoor wellness pool covers cooler days. If you want a bar beside the water, Hotel Occidental Faro has a roof pool, a sunbathing area and a live-music sunset bar, also in Faro itself.

Hotels you might expect here, and why they're not

These hotels come up in Faro searches, but their own sources place no pool on a roof or upper floor.

  • AP Eva senses. The hotel's own site lists only an indoor pool (new from August 2025), with no rooftop or top-floor pool. The AP Cabanas page describes a rooftop pool at a different hotel, so I excluded it.
  • Real Marina Hotel & Spa. No source places a pool on the roof or a top-floor terrace. The hotel's sources list an outdoor pool overlooking the Ria Formosa and a heated indoor spa pool, with no floor level given. The hotel is in Olhão per all sources, not Faro as the request said.
  • Hilton Vacation Club Vilar do Golf Algarve. No source places a pool on a roof or top-floor terrace. Sources list only "indoor" and "outdoor" pools without a level. The tophotelreservations.com page is a third-party booking site, not the hotel's own domain.
  • Pousada Palacio de Estoi, an SLH Hotel. No source places the outdoor pool on a roof or top-floor terrace. The hotel's own site describes an outdoor pool beside the gardens, with no roof or upper-floor mention. The Hilton ranking page is not about this hotel and was not used.
  • Mercedes Country House. The hotel's FAQ places the 50 m² saltwater pool within the grounds and lists the roof terrace separately, with no pool on it.
  • Boutique Hôtel Casa Amor Olhão. None of the sources mention a swimming pool at this hotel. The rooftop appears only as a space for retreat sessions, and the room terrace is on the first floor.
  • Boutique Casa Rosa Villa Hotel. The hotel's own site says the swimming pool is on the ground floor. The two first-floor terraces have sun loungers but no pool.
  • Herdade dos Salgados do Fialho. Only the hotel's own site mentions a pool, describing an outdoor pool alongside the garden. Neither source places it on a roof or top-floor terrace, so it is not classed as rooftop.
