The pool
At 1 Yuen Hong St in Sha Tin, in the New Territories, the pool sits on the 28th-floor rooftop. It measures 25 metres and looks out to blue skies and scenic views of Shatin. The catch is the annual maintenance closure, from early December to late March.
Our take
ALVA is the only entry on our top group outside Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, so it suits a stay built around Sha Tin rather than sightseeing in Tsim Sha Tsui. Its 25-metre length is a number no other hotel here publishes, which matters if you swim lengths.
The downside is double. The pool shuts for about four months, reopening 26 March 2027, and access rules, heating and a day pass all go unpublished. Kimpton and Hotel ICON at least state that they are guests only, so you know where you stand there.
