The pool
A boutique hotel at 50 Bristol Road in Rosebank has its pool on the roof, with city views. The hotel doesn't publish the floor. The catch is the pass price, which isn't listed where passes are sold.
Our take
Home Suite is the one place on this list where a non-guest can buy their way onto a rooftop pool. 54 on Bath lets non-residents into its Level 4 bar but keeps the pool for guests, and Southern Sun Sandton is guests only.
The downside is missing detail. The floor, the pool hours and the heating are not published, and the Time Out listing shows no price. In Johannesburg's best swimming months, December to February, highs average 25.5°C, so those are the dates to aim for.

- The hotel's FAQ mentions rooftop coffee in the morning and wine at sunset, so ask which of those fits your booking.
Before you go. Confirm the day pass price and the pool's opening hours with the hotel or Time Out first, as neither is published.
