Choose this for a winter trip. Place Bonaventure's roof holds an outdoor pool that is heated and open all year, with a hot tub, dry sauna and a lifeguard. Hotel guests only.
The pool
Outdoors on the roof of Place Bonaventure, the pool sits in gardens with views of downtown buildings. A hot tub and dry sauna adjoin it. No floor is published, and only guests can swim.
Our take
Bonaventure is the practical choice when Le Cantlie is closed for the season. The pool is heated all year, and in the coldest months guests can enter from inside the hotel, where changing rooms and showers are on the route.
The downside is access and detail. Guests only, with no day pass, and no floor published. If height matters, Le Cantlie states the 28th floor.
Good to know
- Open all year and heated all year
- Hot tub and dry sauna beside the pool
- Lifeguard present during all opening hours
- Indoor access in the coldest months
The catches
- Guests only, with no day pass
- Floor isn't published
Best forWinter visitors who want to swim outdoors and warm up in a sauna afterward.
Skip it ifYou want a published floor number or a pool you can visit without staying.
Getting in
You must be a hotel guest. The hotel states this plainly and mentions no day pass.
Lockers, padlocks, showers and towels are on site. The pool can be reached from inside the hotel.
Tips
- Book it for December to February, when Montreal highs fall below freezing and few rooftop pools are open.
- Use the indoor route from the hotel in the coldest months.
Before you go. Check pool opening hours when you book, since the lifeguard cover applies only during them.
