The pool
InterContinental New Orleans has an outdoor rooftop pool on St. Charles Avenue, with a lounge area and poolside dining. The hotel says it is heated. It opens seasonally, and the hotel doesn't publish the floor, dates or hours.
Our take
Next to Monteleone and Omni, which are open year-round, this pool is the weaker bet for a winter trip. Average highs fall to 18.2°C in December and 16.9°C in January, and a pool that opens only when the weather allows may not be there. May to July is the best stretch to count on it.
On the plus side, it costs the same $25 as Omni and Renaissance, and there is an accessible route from the public entrance to the pool. Children's activities are offered offsite, not at the hotel, so families won't find a kids' program here.
