Tenerife's best swim months are July to September, yet highs still average 24.2°C in November and 21.1°C in January, so a roof pool works most of the year. Each of the eight hotels we list has its pool on the roof. Two sell day passes, three are for guests only, and three don't publish who can swim.

Our first pick is MYND Adeje: a heated rooftop infinity pool with views to Mount Teide and La Gomera, open to non-guests through a wellness Day Pass that includes a massage. The easier adults-only option is Park Fun Lifestyle, whose FunAttic rooftop with jacuzzis sells a full-day DayPass on the hotel's own site. Neither shows a price.

When to swim on a Tenerife rooftop

July to September are the best three months for a rooftop swim in Tenerife. Winter is milder than you might expect: average highs are 24.2°C in November, 22.2°C in December and 21.1°C in January.

For a winter swim, pick a heated pool. MYND Adeje, H10 Atlantic Sunset and Tigotan Playa de Las Américas are heated, and Hotel Colon Guanahani has a heated salt-water rooftop pool that stays open all year, from 10:00 to 18:00.

Average daily highs: November 24°C (76°F), December 22°C (72°F), January 21°C (70°F). The warmest stretch for swimming is Jul–Sep.

Hotels you might expect here, and why they're not

Six well-known Tenerife hotels have pools but none up on a roof or top-floor terrace, so we left them off the ranking.

  • Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife - All Inclusive. The hotel's own page lists three pools (Splash, Eden, Lago) placed in front of the Oasis and Nirvana towers and the beach. No source describes a pool on a roof or top-floor terrace, so this is not a rooftop pool.
  • Barceló Tenerife. The hotel's own site describes seven outdoor pools among native vegetation, but never says any pool is on a roof or top-floor terrace. The Sandbeds page is about a different hotel (Barceló Santiago in Los Gigantes), so I did not use it. The Google Maps listing has no pool information.
  • Royal Garden Villas l Hotel de lujo en Tenerife. The hotel's own site describes heated private pools inside luxury villas, not a rooftop pool. No source mentions a pool on the roof or a top-floor terrace.
  • KORA TIGOT. The hotel's own pages place its swimming pool in the heart of the complex beside a solarium, with gardens. No source says the pool is on the roof or a top-floor terrace.
  • Anthelia. The hotel's own site describes its saltwater, freshwater and children's pools as outdoor pools set in gardens beside the beach. No source mentions a roof pool or a top-floor pool, so the hotel is classed as not rooftop.
  • Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora. Hotel's own site describes five outdoor pools in the resort, with no pool stated on a roof or top-floor terrace. "Rooftop area" appears only in a services list, not as a pool.
  • Las Terrazas de Abama Suites. Sources describe infinity pools at the resort, including a main pool and a second pool, but none places a pool on a roof or top-floor terrace.

Tenerife rooftop pools: questions people ask

Which Tenerife hotels let non-guests use the rooftop pool?

Two do. MYND Adeje sells a wellness Day Pass that includes a massage, and Park Fun Lifestyle sells a DayPass for full-day use of its facilities, including the adults-only FunAttic rooftop. Neither shows a price. Iberostar Sábila, H10 Atlantic Sunset and Tigotan are for guests only.

Are any Tenerife rooftop pools heated or open in winter?

Yes. MYND Adeje, H10 Atlantic Sunset and Tigotan Playa de Las Américas have heated rooftop infinity pools. Hotel Colon Guanahani has a heated salt-water rooftop pool that stays open all year, from 10:00 to 18:00.

Which Tenerife hotel has the highest rooftop pool?

Iberostar Sábila, on the 6th floor, is the one hotel here that publishes its pool's floor. The semi-private Sky Lounge pool is reserved for Star Prestige guests.

Are Tenerife rooftop pools adults-only or family-friendly?

Mostly adults-only. Iberostar Sábila, Park Fun Lifestyle and Hotel Colon Guanahani are adults-only, Tigotan and Spring Hotel Vulcano's UP Terrace are 18+, and Royal River Luxury Hotel admits nobody under 14. MYND Adeje and H10 Atlantic Sunset don't state an age limit.

How can I swim in a Tenerife rooftop pool for the least money?

Buy a day pass, since it means you don't book a room. MYND Adeje and Park Fun Lifestyle sell them, but neither shows a price, so ask the hotel before you go.
