Choose Magnolia if you're already booking a Downtown room and want a rooftop pool included. It is the only guests-only pool on our Houston list, so visitors can't buy their way in.
The pool
Magnolia Hotel's rooftop pool, at 1100 Texas Ave in Downtown Houston, is for hotel guests only. No floor number or day pass is published.
Our take
Magnolia is the one pool on our Houston list you can't buy into. The Marriott Marquis, also Downtown, sells a day pass from $20, and the Laura sells one at $50. If you only want a swim, those are your options.
As a hotel stay it makes more sense, since the pool comes with the room and you pay no pass fee. The catch is that you have to book a room to use it, and no floor is published. Check the season too: January highs average 17.7°C, so summer suits the pool best.
