The pool
The outdoor pool is on the 15th floor of the Ontop rooftop, beside a lounge bar. Its views take in the mouth of the Douro and the city. It is seasonal and depends on the weather.
Our take
Renaissance Porto Lapa lists its rooftop as open to the public in the evening, which HF Ipanema doesn't. At Ipanema the pool is for hotel guests, so the only way in is a room.
Season is the catch. The hotel says the pool is weather-dependent, and it closes at 8 pm. Guests also get a free indoor heated pool, a jacuzzi and a gym, which cover a cool day.
