Swimming in San Juan works nearly all year: the best three months are July to September, and average highs still reach 30.1°C in November and 29°C in December. Ten San Juan hotels here have a roof pool. Three sell day passes, one is for guests only, and six don't publish who can use the pool.

Our first pick is O:LV Hotel in Santurce, an adults-only rooftop infinity pool facing Condado Lagoon that non-guests can reach with a ResortPass day pass from €44. If price decides it, AC Hotel Condado lists the lowest day-pass figure on our list, from €31. No hotel here publishes its pool floor, so we can't rank by height.

When to swim on a San Juan rooftop

July to September are the best three months for a rooftop swim in San Juan. Winter stays warm: average highs are 30.1°C in November, 29°C in December and 28.4°C in January, so a roof pool is usable in the cold months elsewhere.

No hotel on our list publishes that its pool is heated, so winter comfort depends on the air, not the water. O:live Boutique Hotel's plunge pool is indoors, which is the one setup that doesn't depend on the weather. We have no event dates for the city, so check hotel rates before you book a busy week.

Average daily highs: November 86°F (30°C), December 84°F (29°C), January 83°F (28°C). The warmest stretch for swimming is Jul–Sep.

Hotels you might expect here, and why they're not

These well-known San Juan hotels have pools, but the hotels' own pages place them in gardens, courtyards or on a deck, not on a roof.

  • Fairmont El San Juan Hotel. Hotel's own pages place the four pools beside gardens and describe no pool on the roof. The only rooftop mentions are a fitness Skylab and a private villa terrace with a whirlpool, which is not a hotel pool.
  • Condado Ocean Club. The pool is on THE DECK, an oceanfront deck with sand steps below it, per the hotel's own amenities page. No source places it on a roof or top-floor terrace.
  • Patio Elba Suites. Hotel site and CNTraveler confirm a plunge pool and hot tub, but no source says the pool is on the roof. The hotel's site places it among plants, alongside a garden/inner courtyard amenity.
  • The Dreamcatcher. Hotel's own FAQ lists a shared plunge pool, but no source places the pool on the roof or a top-floor terrace. Pool location is not stated, so rooftop status cannot be confirmed.
  • Decanter Hotel. Sources describe a rooftop terrace and rooftop event venue, but none of them mention a swimming pool.
  • The Gallery Inn. The hotel's own site places its two pools in the gardens and courtyards, including a sculpture pool. The rooftops mentioned are Nico Bar and a private roofdeck, and neither is described as having a pool.
  • El Colonial Hotel - Adults Only. No swimming pool is stated in either source. The hotel's site mentions only a private terrace with an outdoor stone bathtub (tina), and the Google Maps listing has no pool information.
  • Coqui del Mar Guest House. Hotel's own site lists a pool and a separate rooftop deck, but no source places the pool on the roof. Only the hotel's site mentions the pool, so it cannot be confirmed as rooftop.
