The pool
The pool deck is on level 7 of the Bayview on The Strand in Il-Gżira, with panoramic sea views and the Valletta skyline across the water. It has two rooftop pools, a heated indoor pool, a sauna and a jacuzzi. The catch is the window: guests only, 10:00 to 18:00.
Our take
Bayview is the pick on our list for cold months. The outdoor pool is seasonal, but the heated indoor pool runs all year, and Malta's December highs average 17.1°C. Most guests-only pools on our list don't publish a winter option. Hotel Valentina, the other guests-only deck with a published floor, sits on the 8th floor.
The downside is access. Nobody outside the hotel can swim, and the pool closes at 18:00, so there is no evening swim. Spa treatments in the Sea Salt Spa cost extra on top of pool access.

- Use the heated indoor pool in the cooler months. The outdoor one runs seasonally, and its dates aren't published by the hotel.
- Plan swims before 18:00. Book spa treatments separately, as they aren't part of the free access.
