Excellence is the pick for a rooftop pool that belongs to your room. Guests outside the Excellence Club can also book terrace suites with rooftop plunge pools, so the top tier isn't the only way in. Away from the roof, you get a lazy river and seven pools, all set among gardens, plus swim-up suites.
The downside is access. Hive Cancun also puts pools on suite terraces but sells a MX$700 day pass for its facilities. Excellence publishes no day pass, no floor and no heating, so a visitor has no listed way to swim. Its Google rating is 4.9 from 18142 reviews.
