Where to stay: Hanoi's rooftop pools by area

Hoan Kiem District

The district is typically very lively, especially for tourists. Meritel, Solar Premium, Anatole, Grand Hotel du Lac and Hanoi Solis are listed here.

Old Quarter

Streets are small, crowded and touristy, with a lot of scooter traffic, north of Hoan Kiem Lake. Le Chanvre and Hanoi Tirant are here, and Tirant's 13th-floor pool is the one marketed to families.

French Quarter

East of Hoan Kiem Lake, this area is quieter and more upscale than other central areas. Fairmont Hanoi is our listed hotel here.

Ba Dinh

Ba Dinh, northwest of central Hanoi, is a cultural and quiet area to stay. Le Jardin has its 12th-floor pool here.

Cheaper ways to swim in Hanoi

If your hotel's pool is closed to outsiders, Hanoi has two public options: the Tăng Bạt Hổ public pool and the VinWonders Wave Park & Water Park at Ocean Park 3. Neither publishes an adult admission price, so check before you go.

  • Tăng Bạt Hổ Swimming Pool. Public pool in Hanoi. The source lists ticket booking and opening hours but does not state an adult admission price.
  • VinWonders Wave Park & Water Park Hanoi. Water park in Hanoi with wave pool swimming and water slides at Ocean Park 3. The source does not state an adult admission price.

Hotels you might expect here, and why they're not

Five hotels people often expect to find here have no rooftop pool: the roofs hold bars or restaurants, or the pool isn't on the roof.

  • Lucien Hanoi Lakeside Hotel & Rooftop. No source mentions a swimming pool at this hotel. The rooftop is a bar (Upper Cloud Sky Bar Lakeview) on the 11th floor, and the Google Maps listing shows only Hotel, Restaurant and Spa. Per the rules, a rooftop bar without a pool is "not-rooftop".
  • La Mejor Hotel & Sky Bar. No source mentions a swimming pool. The hotel's own site describes only the Diamond Sky Bar on the 10th floor, with no pool.
  • La Nueva Boutique Hotel Hanoi. The hotel's own site describes a rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar. No source mentions a swimming pool at La Nueva Boutique Hotel Hanoi.
  • May De Ville Lakeside Hotel. No source places the swimming pool on the roof or a top-floor terrace. The hotel's spa page mentions a pool only as a wellness amenity, and the Google listing gives no location. The rooftop bar pages don't tie a pool to this hotel.
  • Pullman Hanoi. Neither source mentions a swimming pool at this hotel. The Google Maps listing has no pool details, and the Accor ranking page names only a lobby bar, restaurant, fitness centre and spa. No rooftop pool is confirmed.
